Nihi Sumba

Polo at the edge of the Indian Ocean.

NIHI Sumba sits on the southwest coast of an Indonesian island with more horses than cars, where the local Sandalwood ponies have been ridden on the sand for centuries. For six days at the end of April, the Tour brings polo into that setting — riding, playing and living on the island rather than visiting it. It is the one stop on the calendar that is not open: Sumba does not take external players or teams, so the group is closed and arranged in advance.
